PRESS: Investment misses target of one of top investment climates
MOSCOW, Feb 25 (PRIME) – Investment in Russia is good, although it still misses the target of the country entering the top 20 states with the best investment climate, Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin said in an interview to Izvestiya daily published on Monday.
“Investment dynamics are always the most important indicator of the investment climate quality. It has been generally positive over the past years, but their level is not enough and there is a serious deviation from the target level that we want to achieve,” he said.
The Russian government has a goal of becoming one of top 20 countries with the most favorable business climate.
“The condition of business climate is not that bad here, but I always say that the (Doing Business) rating is not a goal in itself. The goal is to improve the investment activity, improve small, medium-sized, and large businesses. We need to work on that, not on a position in a rating,” he said.
